What is an Energy Audit

Continuing with our previous article Energy Saving Tips for Apartments where we explained the need for a new energy awareness, a new energy attitude and new knowledge. It is important that you do an apartment energy audit, not necessarily a perfect audit, but at least a "basic" audit. Do not allow the word "audit" to overwhelm you. It is simply the process of discovering as exactly as you can, where your apartment is using energy.

Control Your Lights With a Sensor

One of the first energy saving devices I installed in my town-home when we moved in last year was an occupancy sensor for my kitchen lights. The model was from Leviton and can be seen here. The concept is extremely simple. When my Wife or I enters the kitchen the light comes on. When we leave the kitchen the lights go off (after a minute or two).
